Characterization of Influent and Effluent of STP at Shivanagara, Davangere City during the Summer Season

Author Name : Pooja T Y, Bhagyashree H N, D P Nagarajappa, P Shiva Keshava Kumar

ABSTRACT The project involves study on variation of characteristics of wastewater of STP located at Shivanagara of Davangere City during the summer season for the three months viz., March, April and May. Followed by its correlation analysis and WQI calculation Both influent and treated effluent samples were collected to analyze the characteristics during the summer season. The characteristics involves the analysis of color, pH, Alkalinity, BOD, COD, DO, TSS, TDS, Turbidity, EC, Cadmium, Chromium, Lead and Nickel. STP was found to be very efficient in removing all the contaminants hence effluent was made safe for its disposal i.e., values were found to be within the prescribed standards. The characterization might indicate that the efficiency of wastewater treatment systems fluctuates with seasonal changes. According to an analysis, the summer produced more contaminants in the WW. It was caused by a number of things, including festivals, religious rituals, increased leisure activities, warmth, and dilution. Despite these differences, wastewater from summer season could be safely disposed of on land for irrigation as well as on surface water.
