Comparative Effects of Diaphragmatic, Pursed-Lip, and ACBT Breathing Techniques on Dyspnea and Exercise Tolerance among Post-CABG Patients in Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation

Author Name : Amitika Khare, Taniya Vaidya

ABSTRACT Background: Dyspnea, reduced functional capacity, and impaired respiratory mechanics are commonly observed in post-CABG patients during Phase II cardiac rehabilitation. Breathing retraining techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing, pursed-lip breathing (PLB), and the Active Cycle of Breathing Technique (ACBT) are widely used to enhance ventilatory efficiency, improve secretion clearance, and optimize cardiopulmonary endurance, but comparative evidence among the three remains limited. Objective: To compare the effects of diaphragmatic breathing, pursed-lip breathing, and ACBT on dyspnea and exercise tolerance in post-CABG patients undergoing Phase II cardiac rehabilitation.
