Author Name : Anjali Verma, Shivangi Singh, Aryan Rathoure, Nidhi Awasthi

ABSTRACT Background- Hair, like bones, teeth and nails is relatively durable in the face of harsh environmental conditions. As a result, hair is retrieved, along with other bone remnants, and sent for analysis. Here, the question often asked is whether the hair is of human or not? AIM: - The current study aims to identify the most reliable quantitative criteria for distinguish human hair from animal hair. Material and methods: - Hairs samples were collected from a variety of animal species and different sites of human hair. The shaft diameter, medulla diameter, and medullary index of human and other animals were measured in this study. It was, discovered that the medullary index, which is less than 0.44 in animals hair, is a good criterion for distinguishing between human and animals hair.
