Comparison of Different Types of Signatures (Normal, Formal and Receipt Signatures)

ABSTRACT

The comparison of signatures [questioned document] is the study within forensic science which focus on the examination and comparison of signatures to determine their authentication , origin, or potential forgery. One fundamental aspect of handwriting signature analysis is the principle of individuality. Each person has a distinct writing style influenced by factors such as motor skills, habits, cultural background, and personal reference. A study was done to identify the similarities and dissimilarities of class characteristics among the three types of handwriting signature (Normal, Formal and Receipt Signature). For that i collected signatures for around 40 individuals and class characteristics were marked. A comparative observation was made and percentage was calculated. Around 35% of similarities were there between Normal and formal signatures and around 15% characteristics were dissimilarities in all three signatures. This may be because of Security and safety issues.
