Abstract The Anna Bhagya and Shakti Schemes, launched by the government of Karnataka, are emblematic of efforts to address food security and women empowerment in the state. The Anna Bhagya Scheme, introduced in 2023, aims to provide subsidized food grains to eligible households, ensuring access to adequate nutrition for vulnerable populations. On the other hand, the Shakti Scheme, launched in 2023, focuses on empowering women through financial assistance and capacity-building initiatives. This research paper aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the Anna Bhagya and Shakti schemes introduced by the government of Karnataka. The paper analyses the objectives, implementation strategies, impact, and challenges these schemes face. Through qualitative research methodologies including literature review, data analysis, and case studies, the paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these social welfare programs in addressing food security and women empowerment in Karnataka. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the role of government initiatives in addressing socio-economic challenges at the state level. According to the research findings, the majority of respondents— 89.3%—think that the scheme's primary goal is the empowerment of women. It is found that respondents' opinions vary regarding the effectiveness of the Anna Bhagya scheme in ensuring food security. 48% of the respondents believe it is effective, 45.3% are unsure or don't have a clear opinion 6.3% disagree with its effectiveness
