"Concept of Garbhini Chardi in Ayurvedic Classics: A Critical Literary Review”
Author Name : Dr. Akhil Bankapure, Dr. Rajeshwari Gurav, Dr. Pooja Patil
ABSTRACT Garbhini Chardi, the occurrence of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, is a commonly observed physiological as well as pathological condition described in Ayurvedic classics under Garbhini Vyapad. Ayurveda considers pregnancy (Garbhavastha) as a delicate phase requiring meticulous care due to continuous physiological and hormonal adaptations. Classical texts such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya describe Chardi in pregnancy as primarily caused by Dosha vitiation, especially aggravated Kapha and Vata, along with the influence of Garbha Vriddhi and altered Agni. The concept is explained through the lens of Dosha-Dushya Sammurchana, Rasadhatu involvement, and Hridaya–Amashaya dysfunction.
