Cultural and Educational Significance of Hela Khayal: A Traditional Folk Art of Rajasthan

ABSTRACT Hela Khayal Dangal represents a diverse and culturally substantial folk drama tradition originating from Dausa, Rajasthan. This art form, which developed about three centuries ago, reflects the rich cultural heritage of rural Rajasthan, also serving as a powerful medium for social observation, education and communal unity. This research paper examines the cultural and educational proportions of Hela Khayal, analyzing its historical development, performance features, academic functions, and contemporary importance. Through the exploration of this traditional art form, this study demonstrates how Hela Khayal serves simultaneously as cultural preservation, social criticism, and community education. The findings suggest that Hela Khayal deserves recognition as insubstantial cultural heritage and presents opportunities for integration into formal and informal educational frameworks.
