Cultural Representation in the Works of V.S. Naipaul

Author Name : Dr. Kailash Chandra Jha

ABSTRACT The paper attempts to study cultural representation in the works of Nobel Laureate V.S. Naipaul. Naipaul was an Indian by descent, raised in Trinidad and Tobago, a Caribbean island and chose to reside in Britain, for a major part of his life. He was exposed to different cultures and cultural representations are frequently depicted in his writings. The novels taken up for this study include ‘A House for Mr. Biswas’, ‘A Bend in the River’ and ‘Miguel Street’.
