Design and Analysis of Automatic Footboard Accident Prevention System using Gear Tooth System
Author Name : Mr. R. Palani, Mr. M. Mathan Kumar, Mr. R. Santhosh kumar, Mr. R. Madhavan
Our aims to develop a system to prevent from footboard accidents while travelling in buses. Horrible event from footboard travelling in buses are one of the prominent examples of road accidents. A 20 years old student was travelling on the footboard of an over crowd MTC (Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus at Tiruvallur, Chennai, in January, 2008. Another incident youngster was crushed to death under the wheels of the bus when he slipped and fell down. In another incident, a speeding bus, having passengers hanging on the footboard was hit by a lorry on Vulvar Kota Saalai, Chennai, in September, 2014. Three students were fatally caught between the bus and the lorry. The basic principle behind the working system is to stop the bus from moving when someone stands on the footboard using gear tooth system. Even though automatic door closing system are already implemented, the negligence of the passengers and bus drivers to close the door before starting the bus makes the automatic doors moot. But in our idea system ensures that the bus does not move when the passengers are standing on the foot board and more importantly, only when the doors are closed. Using our idea, we can reduce the number of deaths occurred due to footboard travelling.
