ABSTRACT A go-kart is a racing vehicle designed with shallow ground clearance for flat racing circuits. This paper outlines the engineering principles behind a safe, rigid frame, an integrated powertrain, and efficient braking and steering systems. Our design process involved evaluating various alternatives using FUSION 360 and CREO 3.0, and it was iterative, addressing factors such as availability and cost. We established four key goals for each component: durability, safety and ergonomics, lightweight construction, and high performance. We also considered parameters like reliability, cost-effectiveness, and materials. To enhance design integrity, we conducted finite element analysis (FEA) on regularly loaded components and implemented necessary modifications. Additionally, we performed Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and a Design Verification Plan (DVP) for each part, improving our safety standards. Our go-kart is engineered to handle various challenging road conditions, with each component designed to prioritize safety and reliability. The powertrain is optimized for maximum speed and torque, delivering performance comparable to similar vehicles.
