ABSTRACT This project consist of design and analysis of Compound Tool, by High carbon high chromium D2 Tool steel material, Here both blanking and piercing operations can be done simultaneously by this compound tool, D2 material with 38 HRC, which is used for sheet metal work on soft material like aluminum, The major Disadvantage of compound Tool is, if the pierced holes are too near to the outer edge of the pierced part, the blanking punch of the compound tool which accommodates the piercing Dies will becomes very weak, Because the punch may break either during manufacture or during the course of tool life, This problem can be reduced by the adequate hardness and toughness of tools, Here this tool is heat treated to increase the hardness of 58 HRC for the hard material like steel and also stress analysis are carried out before and after heat treatment by ANSYS. The stress values are compared. Thus the heat treated compound tool is capable for sheet metal work on hard material.
