ABSTRACT A two-dimensional ring resonator made of photonic crystal is simulated. This device is developed for temperature detection in the harsh environmental conditions for a temperature ranging from the 0 °C to 360 °C with high Quality factor. A sensor is dependent on 2DPCRR hexagonal array of Holes in the silicon (Si) Slab. The detection idea predicated on the variation of the optical density of the Si due to a modification to the temperature which changes where the location of the transmission peaks. A shift is to be created that will be used to calculate the Quality factor and Sensitivity. The Opti FDTD algorithm was used to simulate the transmission of light for different temperatures The results are promising because the simulated sensor sensitivity factor is high.
