ABSTRACT Low pass filters are the essential components required for biomedical applications like Echocardiography(ECG)and Echocardiogram(EEG),These low pass filters are required to attenuate the various artefacts present in heart signals to extract the QRS complex . These Low pass filters are required to operate at low supply voltages whilst having minimal power dissipation and reduced active area. Consequently, there is also need for low pass filters with reduced input referred noise. Therefore, this proposed design describes an ultra-low voltage, low power Gm-C low pass filter using voltage follower and noise reduction techniques. The proposed design operates in subthreshold region with a supply voltage of 0.425V. The 4th order low pass filter with the proposed design has been implemented in 180nm technology which has power dissipation of only 1.4nW with cutoff frequency of 194Hz, 80.39µV_rms input referred noise is achieved. The proposed LPF achieves both ultra-low power consumption with a 0.425V supply and reduced input referred noise and bandwidth, with an active area of 0.18mm2 , which is suitable for low-supply-voltage biomedical systems.
