Design of Real-Time Bus Tracking API Using NodeJS

ABSTRACT

Internet of things technologies has grown quickly to give different products and applications, which gives the advantage for industries and human lives.   In this fast-growing world, everyone is busy.  For this situation, waiting for the buses at the bus stop is not suitable.  The People who are all going to work or schools or any other purposes public transport is important. Most of the companies developing the Global Positioning System separately for tracking the vehicle.  But the cost of building the GPS device is high.  This paper proposes a vehicle tracking system by using a Mobile device that acts as a Global Positioning System device that collects the location coordinates like latitude, longitude, based on a timestamp from the mobile device and gives live updates to the MongoDB database and retrieve data from the database and display it on a Google map.  Additionally, the new system builds the webserver for the application using NodeJS, designing the Application programming interfaces. This real-time Vehicle tracking system makes the users view the exact location of the buses.  Therefore, the proposed work saves the user’s time to wait for the buses so they can know the bus’s current location on Google maps.
