Development and Validation of a Stability-Indicating Rp-Hplc Method for the Simultaneous Estimation Of Moxifloxacin And Norfloxacin In Binary Mixture

ABSTRACT

A stability indicating high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the determination of norfloxacin and moxifloxacin in binary mixture. Chromatographic separations were achieved on a columnused was C18Nucleodur(150mmX4.6mmX5µm),mobilephase composition of ACN: Methanol: phosphate buffer pH 3.0 was adjusted with orthophosphoric acid in the ratio (44:11:45 V/V/V) with Flow rate 1.5 ml min-1 and UV detection was carried out at 266 nm. Linearity, system suitability, precision, sensitivity, selectivity, specificity, and robustness were established by International Conference Harmonization guidelines. For stress studies the drug was subjected to acid, base, oxidation, thermal and photolytic degradation. The proposed method not required highly sophisticated and expensive instrumentation.
