Development and validation of Two UV Spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous estimation of Carvedilol and Ivabradine hydrochloride in synthetic mixture

Author Name : Patel Krutika Nareshbhai, Dr. Alisha Patel

ABSTRACT

To simple, precise, rapid and economic spectrophotometric methods have been developed for simultaneous determination of Carvedilol (CAR) and Ivabradine Hydrochloride (IVA) in bulkpowder and synthetic mixture. Method (1)based on dual wavelength analysis while Method(2) depends onQ-Absorbance ratio method. In Method (1), two wavelengths were selected for each drug in such a way thatdifference inthe absorbance is zero for the second drug. At wavelengths 273-282.60 nmCAR has equalabsorbancevalues, therefore, these two wavelengths have been used to determine IVA, on similar basis276.80-286 nm were selected to determine CAR in the synthetic mixture. Method (2)involve formation of the Q-absorbance equation using the respective absorptivity values at284.80 nm (isoabsorptive point) and 280 nm (λmax of CAR). The drugs obey Beer’s Lambert’s lawin the concentration range of 5–25 and 2–10 μg/ml for CAR and IVA (for Method I) and in the rangeof 5–30 μg/ml for both CAR and IVA, respectively (for Method II). The accuracy and precisionwas determined and recovery studies confirmed the accuracy of the developed methods that wascarried out following the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.
