Development of Arabic Literature from Pre-Islamic To Islamic Period

ABSTRACT
The Arabic literature al- Adab al-Arabi is the writing both prose and poetry, produced by writers in the Arabic language. The Arabic word used for literature is ‘Adab’ which is derived from a meaning of etiquette, and which implies politeness, culture and enrichment. The Arabic literature came in the 5th century which only fragments of the written language appearing before then. The Holy Quran widely regarded by Muslims as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language, would have the greatest lasting effect on Arabic culture and its literature. Arabic literature developed during the Islamic Golden Age, but has remained vibrant to the present day, which poets and prose writers across the Arab world achieving increasing success. The Pre Islamic Arabic literature has come down to us belongs to a period of about a century and a half before Islam. The pre-Islamic Arabic literature mainly consists of poetry literature and prose literature, which are found to have preserved by oral tradition from 500-622 A.D.
