ABSTRACT Hybrid heterocyclic systems have emerged as promising scaffolds in medicinal chemistry due to their structural diversity and biological potential. Among them, imidazole and phthalimide derivatives individually exhibit a broad spectrum of pharmacological activities, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. The present study focuses on the rational design, synthesis, structural characterization, and biological evaluation of novel imidazole–phthalimide conjugates as potential anticancer agents. The synthesized conjugates were characterized using spectroscopic techniques such as IR, ^1H NMR, ^13C NMR, and mass spectrometry. Structural confirmation suggested successful formation of fused or linked hybrid systems. Structure–Activity Relationship (SAR) analysis was conducted to correlate substituent effects with biological activity. Preliminary in vitro cytotoxicity studies demonstrated moderate to significant anticancer activity against selected human cancer cell lines. The results suggest that the imidazole–phthalimide framework provides a promising template for further optimization and drug development.
