ABSTRACT Plant resources form an integral part of our ecosystem. Plant is a part of interdependent system of biosphere which encompasses the physical components and biological community of life. The plant resources having tremendous benefit in the human life. The plants are perceived, managed and used by human societies for their welfare and survival. The people who live in the rural areas surrounding the forests and live in the vicinity of forests depends upon plants and their products to fulfill their daily life basic needs and to earn their livelihood. These traditional healers of study area has great traditional knowledge about the utilization of local plants for various purposes. This traditional knowledge is inherited from one generation to another orally by these old aged people who live in the vicinity of forests. This paper emphasis the exploration of the traditional uses of plants resources of lower foothills of Himachal Pradesh due to their potential as pesticides, insecticides and insect repellents.
