Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s Views on The Menacing Evils of Untouchability in His Radical Address at Mahad
Author Name : Dr. Netai Chandra Das
ABSTRACT
Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s speech at Mahad in particular was a clarion for the untouchables underyoked by the hegemony of the Hindu casteist society to come together and abolish the caste system prevalent in India. The evils of untouchability had existed for years and became the greatest adversary of democracy. His whole speech was devoted to the depiction of the miserable condition of the untouchables and several ways to combat this stigmatization collectively. The objective of this paper is to shed light on Dr. Ambedkar’s views on the evils of untouchability in his historic speech at Mahad on 25 December, 1927.
