ABSTRACT The Process of drug discovery is lengthy and tortuous, spanning several years broadly speaking the drug development process can be divided into three main phases mainly 1. Drug discovery phase 2. Pre-clinical phase 3. Clinical trial phase The drug discovery is the process through which potential new medicine are identified it involves a wide range of scientific disciplines including biology , chemistry and pharmacology in which new candidate medications are discovered it having different phase of drug discovery A major stage in this drug development process is the pre clinical stage which is characterized by testing the drug candidate in animal models as a predictor of its efficiency and tolerability in humans A clinical trail a research study in human volunteers to answer specific health questions Carefully conducted clinical trails are fastest and safest way to find treatment that works in peoples safety and way to improve health Clinical trails aim to measured therapeutic effectiveness and constitute an improvement and highly specialized from of biological assay The procedure followed during the trials should complied with an elaborate code known as good clinical practice (GCP) presented by the international conference on harmonization (ICH) The overall aim of this article is the to overview on the all of the development process include the drug discovery phase pre-clinical and clinical studies During the pre-clinical studies sone principle are adopted i.e three ‘R’ are the principle for animal used in preclinical studies some regulations are also available during animal used for research this regulation is different depending on animal species
