E-Governance and Digital Divide Factors, Initiative and Challenges in India

ABSTRACT
In recent world information and communication technology has become engines of growth and development. Because an information-based society wherein information and communication technology is a very crucial for economic and social development of an country. But It is true that use of digital technology not only improvement people day to day life but also divided in the world between information have and have not. In short, digital divide denote a unequal relationship in term of access and uses of information technology. And this paper examines the digital divide in the context of information have and have not in India, and highlighted what action or initiative has been taken by the government to bridge that unequal digital divide and also some factor which are responsible for the digital divide. and highlighted some challenges that has faced by the government during implementation of this initiative to bridging the digital divide in India as well. For the achieving of the objective the researcher used secondary data from the various source like book, related article, government website etc. and found that most of initiative to bridging the digital divide in India still not successful due lack of digital literacy of people, deferent language lack of internet connectivity etc.
