ABSTRACT:  The textile industry's historical reliance on conventional dyeing methods has raised environmental concerns due to pollution, toxic chemical use, and high energy consumption. Recent years have witnessed a surge in interest in eco-friendly dyeing processes, driven by growing awareness of sustainability issues. This paper explores the environmental impacts of conventional synthetic dyes, regulatory frameworks, and the resurgence of natural dyes as sustainable alternatives. It reviews various sustainable dyeing approaches, including low-liquor dyeing, nanocellulose-based dyeing, and dyeing with natural extracts. Additionally, innovative methods such as microwave irradiation and palm oil/water dual-phase dyeing are discussed for their potential to reduce environmental footprint in the textile dyeing process.
