ABSTRACT Perineal pain is most commonly associated with child birth by vaginal delivery. Pain following episiotomy appears to be universal. Patient with severe postpartum pain, require additional therapy that would relief them of discomfort. Betadine is widely used in hospitals for healing episiotomy wound. It is an antiseptic skin cleanser. It helps to reduce bacteria that potentially cause skin infection. In this study a) To assess the level of healing of episiotomy wound among postnatal mothers b) To assess the effectiveness of applying betadine over the episiotomy wound c) To associate the post assessment level of healing of episiotomy wound among with selected demographic variables. a quantitative approach and a quasi- experimental design one group pretest post test design was used for the applying betadine over the episiotomy wound in reducing the duration of healing was used to collect the data including demographic variables of the study participant. 60 study participants were selected by non probability purposive sampling. The comparison of pretest and post test means of episiotomy wound (REEDA score) were done by paired t test. The pretest average score was 8.80 with standard deviation of 1.67. The post test average score was 3.10 with standard deviation of 0.71. The test statistics value of the paired t test was 25.24 with p value 0.00. The p value less than 0.05 hence reject null hypothesis and accept alternative hypothesis. Shows that, application of betadine over the episiotomy wound in reducing the duration of healing among the PNC mothers at selected hospital was effective.
