Effects of Roadway Condition, Traffic Characteristics, and Man-Made Structures on Road Regulation and Safety: A Comprehensive Review

Author Name : Suchi Dwivedi, Prof. Rajat Choudhary

ABSTRACT Road traffic safety remains a critical global concern due to the continuous increase in vehicular population, rapid urbanization, and expansion of road infrastructure. Despite advancements in road design and traffic management, accident rates remain high, particularly in developing countries where infrastructure deficiencies and mixed traffic conditions are common. Road regulation and safety are influenced by multiple interrelated factors, among which roadway condition, traffic characteristics, and man-made structures play a significant role. This review paper presents a comprehensive synthesis of existing literature to examine the effects of these factors on road safety performance.
