Effects of Virtual Reality on Kinesiophobia: A Narrative Review

ABSRACT Introduction: Kinesiophobia is an important psychosocial factor affecting the pain experience and has a significant negative impact of physical rehabilitation. Kinesiophobia is a fear of movement or physical activity due to the belief that it may cause pain or injury. It often occurs in individuals who have experienced an injury or chronic pain, leading to a heightened fear of movement. Purpose of study: The purpose of this study is to see the effect of Virtual Reality (VR) on Kinesiophobia.Clinical Question: Is Virtual Reality (VR) really effective in Kinesiophobia?Methodology: Article from different search engines like PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar and Research Gate are reviewed. Article since 2017, which are available and are published in English language are included. Result: Articles reviewed showed that these is an effect of virtual reality in kinesiophobia. Conclusion: Virtual Reality is effective in conditions like chronic low back pain, chronic neck pain, and post stroke rehabilitation.
