Efficacy of Endoscopic Management of Bile Duct Injuries
Author Name : Macias-Escobedo Luis Gerardo, Martinez-Jimenez Francisco Javier de Jesús
ABSTRACT Background: Bile duct injuries (BDI) are the most severe complication of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the first-line treatment when ductal continuity is preserved. However, its success depends on the severity of injury, classified by the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA). Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of endoscopic treatment of post-cholecystectomy BDI and its relationship with the IHPBA classification.
