Entrepreneurial Skills Development and Commerce Education

ABSTRACT “Study of Commerce and acquiring entrepreneurial skills through it”- meansfuelingcontinuous business development of a nation. Paul S. Lomax stated that “Commerce education is fundamentally a program of economic education that has to do with the acquirement, conservation, and spending of wealth”. An amalgamation of both theoretical and practical knowledge serves as a key factor in developing the skills associated with entrepreneurship and thereby promoting the application of one’s own ideas and strategies. In today’s era, it is very difficult for an organization to survive, considering the rapid technological advancements as well as globalization. In such scenario, education of commerce will play a pivotal role in equipping our future dynamic managers. This course will further prepare the students to face the emerging trends of changing business world. Case study-based practical curriculum will impact the mindset of younger generation in better understanding of the subject as well as encouraging the budding entrepreneurs in future. This paper intends to provide valuable insights regarding the role of practically relevant commerce education towards achieving the goal of Self-reliant India.
