ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing social and economic inequalities, including the gender pay gap. This study provides an in-depth examination of the gender pay gap in Indian corporates, exploring the extent, determinants, and implications of the gap. Using a survey-based approach, the study collects data from 1000 employees across various industries, including Finance, IT, Healthcare, and Manufacturing, and job roles, including Entry-Level, Mid-Level, and Senior-Level positions. The results reveal a significant gender pay gap, with men earning higher average salaries than women across industries and job roles, with an average difference of ₹120,000 per annum. The gap is most pronounced in the Finance industry, where men earn an average of ₹150,000 more than women, and in Senior-Level roles, where men earn an average of ₹200,000 more than women. Regression analysis confirms that gender, industry, job role, experience, and education are significant predictors of salary, with gender being a significant factor even after controlling for other variables. The study highlights the need for organizations to address the gender pay gap through policies and practices that promote gender equality, fair pay, and diversity and inclusion. The findings have implications for HR practitioners, policymakers, and researchers seeking to understand and address the gender pay gap in Indian corporates. This study also investigates the impact of the pandemic on the gender pay gap in Indian corporates.
