Evaluation 0f Education System in Cooch Behar (1773 -1883): An Analysis

ABSTRACT

The development of education in any society is deeply steeped in various backgrounds. The proliferation of educational exploration in Cooch Behar is no exception. The advent of the royal period in the district of Cooch Behar in North Bengal with the annexation of the native state of Cooch Behar to India on 1st January, 1950, , the long 454-year reign came to an end. And at the same time the Royal rulers of Cooch Behar played a vital role in the evolution of public education. So, this paper is an attempt to stress how the development of education laid a foundation in the freedom movement in Cooch Behar and to investigate the development of education system in Cooch Behar district and to identify the key contributor in education system of Cooch Behar district. And how educationists played a vital role in the spread of public education not only in Cooch Behar but in the whole of North Bengal and the whole of Bengal by emphasizing on children's education, women’s education, primary education, lower secondary, secondary, higher secondary education and so on.
