Evidential Value of Footprints in Criminal Investigation

ABSTRACT
Almost every criminal investigation it is necessary to establish a particular person or persons may or may have not been present at the scene of occurrence. In this regards, application of forensic science play a vital role in criminal investigation to establish the identity of the offender. Several books and reaches it is proved that, like a fingerprint, the footprint of every persons is unique and can be used to identify a person. Footprint evidence is a source of physical evidence to identify the culprit in a criminal investigation. It can help to link the suspect to crime scene and the victim. Every individual's prints contain friction ridge that are unique to that person. Even the footprints of identical twins are different. Furthermore, friction ridge minutiae remain naturally unchanged throughout a person's life. For this reason, the collection, preservation, and analysis of this valuable physical evidence have become more frequent in the law enforcement community. In this present study mainly focus the scientific value of footprints in criminal investigation as well as the court of law.
