Evolving Domestic Buyer Behavior in the Tirupur Knitwear Cluster: A Strategic Insight for Apparel Exporters

Author Name : Mr. P. Murugan, S. Prassath Subhiksun

ABSTRACT India’s textile and apparel industry is a global powerhouse, with Tirupur serving as one of the most prominent knitted fabric export clusters. While extensive studies have been conducted on international buyer expectations, limited research exists on the purchasing behavior of domestic Indian buyers who source from export-ready manufacturers. With growing digitalization, fashion awareness, and demand for export-quality apparel within India, this segment of buyers is becoming increasingly influential. This study explores the key factors influencing purchasing decisions among Indian wholesalers, retailers, boutique owners, and e-commerce aggregators sourcing from the Tirupur knitwear cluster.
