Expanded Polystyrene Used in Lightweight Concrete

Author Name : Pallavi Chauhan, Dr. Tinku Biswas

ABSTRACT Since the 1950s, lightweight Extended Polystyrene (EPS) has been employed in the design of equipment. Here, by completely replacing the coarse aggregates in concrete with expanded polystyrene globules, we are promoting the use of one additional major lightweight cement. To produce lightweight non-essential concrete with a unit weight less than or equal to 1800 kg/m3, expanded polystyrene, a grainy material, is used as a complete. In addition to other advantages like improved intensity and sound protection, ease of development, and manageability, this material related to Extended Polystyrene Concrete is widely recognized for its low thickness and climate-friendly features. The increasing use of this chemical in environmentally friendly designs and ocean buildings across the world is clear evidence of its progress. This study focuses on the outcomes of an initial evaluation of the designing characteristics of a polystyrene total cement with varying thickness, such as compressive strength, adaptation modulus, drying shrinkage, and creep. Its characteristics are different from those of typical cement since there are no EPS dabs.
