ABSTRACT Indian Literature is incredibly rich and diverse with a long and vibrant history. Indian literature refers to the literature produced on the Indian subcontinent unit 1947 an in the republic of India thereafter. In Indian culture self-reflection introspection is highly valued. Indian English literature genre is a fine example of linguist and culture synthesis. Basically, childhood novel in Indian literature plays a vital role in shaping young minds by introducing positive role plays in novel. This study explores the nature of human life characterized by their introspective and philosophical tone. This paper proposes the study of Adolescence and Seeking for identity in Indian literature through Ruskin Bond’s The Room on the Roof (1956) and Vagrants in the Valley (2016). These texts deal with semiautobiographical exploration of Ruskin Bond’s childhood experiences of growing up in Dehradun and Missouri. These novels deeply explore about coming of age and maturity of a young boy and his journey to seek adventure and friendship. Vagrants in the Valley is the sequel to the, The Room on the Roof. The novels are considered classics of Indian literature and have been translated into many languages. The protagonist is a teenager in the novels. In the context of Ruskin Bond’s works, childhood is a poignant and introspective exploration of the human experience which attempts to explore
