ABSTRACT This research article examines the dynamic relationship between modern Indian drama and Western drama, focusing on the pivotal roles played by playwrights Asif Currimbhoy and Mahesh Dattani. Through a comparative analysis of their works, this study explores the thematic, stylistic, and socio-cultural dimensions of modern Indian drama in relation to its Western counterparts. By delving into the unique perspectives and narrative techniques employed by Currimbhoy and Dattani, this article sheds light on the ways in which Indian playwrights have both drawn inspiration from and diverged from Western theatrical traditions
