Formulation and Characterization of Oxiconazole Nitrate Niosomal Gel for Topical Application
Author Name : Shruti A. Adhau, Dr. S. D. Pande
ABSTRACT
Objective: The objective of the present study was incorporation Oxiconazole Nitrate Niosomes in different gel bases to develop (Oxiconazole Nitrate) gel for topical delivery.
Method: Oxiconazole Nitrate Niosomes were prepared by Rotary Evaporator Method. and all vesicles were evaluated for their entrapment efficiency (EE%), and in-vitro drug release. Oxiconazole Nitrate Niosomal gels were prepared using HPMC E5, HPMC E15, HPMC K100, sodium alginate, Carbopol 934, Carbopol940. The effect of type and concentration of the employed gel bases on the permeation was tested. The viscosity of gel formulae and also the Stability study were evaluated.
Results: The results showed that polymers type affect the In-Vitro Release Study and rheological properties of Oxiconazole Nitrate Niosomal gel. In-Vitro study of F5 containing 1.5% Carbopol 940 showed the best Cumulative % drug release (98.37%) and the better viscosity.
Conclusion: All the studied gels are of acceptable physical properties and drug content. They exhibited pseudoplastic flow with thixotropic behavior. Considering in-vitro permeation, rheological properties, F5 (1.5% Carbopol 940) formula was the best.
