Formulation and Evaluation of Poly-Herbal Eco-Friendly Medicated Chewing Gum for Dental and Oral Ailments

ABSTRACT Objective: The goal present research is to formulate and test polyherbal medicated chewing gum for oral and dental problems that have higher bioavailability and compliance than standard treatment options. An effort was undertaken to create chewing gum with a natural gum foundation for an easier and faster commencement of an action. Method: Four polyherbal medicinal chewing gum formulations were developed utilizing a direct compression mold. Formulations were evaluated for physical assessment, weight fluctuation, brittleness, stickiness, hardness, in vitro drug release, and drug release tests. Result: the data obtained suggest that 500 mg of gum base and 80 mg of calcium carbonate had best elasticity and rate of release was 95% in 16 mins.
