Formulation and Optimization of Micelles of Econazole Nitrate

ABSTRACT Econazole nitrate, an imidazole antifungal agent, is widely prescribed for dermatophytosis and candidiasis but suffers from poor aqueous solubility and limited skin penetration. The present study aimed to formulate and optimize econazole nitrate-loaded polymeric micelles using pluronic block copolymers. Micelles were prepared via thin-film hydration and optimized through a lattice mixture design employing Pluronic F127 and P123 as independent variables.
