ABSTRACT Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a major environmental factor responsible for various skin disorders including sunburn, premature skin aging, hyperpigmentation, immunosuppression, and skin cancer. Conventional sunscreen formulations primarily rely on synthetic chemical and inorganic UV filters, which may cause adverse effects such as skin irritation, allergic reactions, hormonal disruption, and environmental toxicity upon prolonged use.
