ABSTRACT The primary objective of this research paper is to delve into the multifaceted dimensions of cultural globalization and their repercussions on cultural identity within Anne Tyler's, Digging to America (2006). Within the purview of this investigation, several pivotal aspects of cultural globalization emerge, including but not limited to multiculturalism, cultural alienation or isolation, the clash of divergent cultural paradigms, and the pervasive influence of Westernization. These facets are discerned through a comprehensive examination of globalization as a contemporary phenomenon in the context of the modern era. This study posits that Anne Tyler assumes the role of an advocate for a brand of globalization that fundamentally equates to the process of Americanization and subsequent cultural homogenization. The assertion here is that her literary portrayal reflects an alignment with a paradigm of globalization wherein American cultural norms and values take precedence, potentially overshadowing and eroding distinctive cultural identities. Through nuanced analysis and critical engagement with Tyler's narrative, this paper endeavors to elucidate the nuanced nuances and underlying implications of her stance on cultural globalization, shedding light on the intricate interplay between globalizing forces and the preservation of cultural identities in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
