ABSTRACT
The organ Grahani is the Site of Jatharagni which is also known as digestive fire. It is called Grahani because it receives consumed food from its upper part i.e. stomach. It retains the undigested food and allows the digested food to pass further. Grahani when dysfunction by highly vitiated Doshas individually or in combination , due to bad eating habits cause Grahani Dosha because of formation of Ama Dosha due to Agni Dushti . It then allows the food to pass on without complete process of digestion and absorption. It is caused due to disturbance of Agni (Mandagni). In modern era due to change in lifestyle and eating habits, lack of exercise, excessive workload to get more luxury which then causes increased defects in digestive function which further causes so many GIT disorders. Out of which IBS is more common and leading disorder due to bowel disturbance with improper metabolisation. As for the management of Grahani Roga, there is need to alleviate the Agni which is suppressed due to certain etiological factors So, there is need of Deepana, Pachana, and Grahi Dravyas to treat the Grahani Roga. Not only this, there is also a need of change in lifestyle to improve Agni so as to make digestive fire as efficient as to metabolised the undigested food and pass out only the digested food .
