History, Politics and Cultural Tangles in Shashi Tharoor’s “The Elephant, The tiger and The Cellphone”

ABSTRACT

“The Elephant, The Tiger and The Cellphone” may be a strange title, but the usage of the word Elephant for a nation like India makes the present study to use the same name.  In the present article, the word Elephant is synonymous with India and vice-versa. The problems that are encountered by this massive nation would be the focus of the article. Since there are millions of unsolved issues, the study has chosen the tangles of history, politics and culture that confronts this great nation. Shashi Tharoor has given much stress on these three issues and the study not only exposes the tangle, but also suggests the solutions that are implied by the author.
