Impact of Cybercrime of Consumers
Author Name : Tanmay, Dr. Anurupa B. Singh
INTRODUCTION : Introduction In the current digital environment, cybercrime poses a widespread danger that significantly impacts the security and welfare of consumers. This research paper explores the extensive consequences of cybercrime on individuals, encompassing various aspects such as financial, psychological, and personal domains. By conducting a thorough examination of existing literature and empirical evidence, this study sheds light on the multifaceted nature of cyber threats and their profound implications for people. One of the most tangible outcomes of cybercrime on consumers is the financial losses they suffer. Incidents like phishing, identity theft, and online fraud can result in substantial monetary damages, as cybercriminals exploit vulnerabilities in digital systems to drain funds from unsuspecting victims. These financial losses not only cause immediate harm but also have long-term effects, impacting individuals’ financial stability and future prospects. In addition to the financial implications, cybercrime also takes a toll on consumers’ psychological well-being. The psychological distress arising from cyberattacks can manifest in various ways, including anxiety, stress, and a sense of violation. Victims may feel powerless and vulnerable, especially considering the invasion of privacy and loss of control over personal information. Such emotional trauma can have enduring consequences on individuals’ mental health and overall quality of life.
