Impact of K-Pop and K-Dramas on Indian Youth and Popular Culture

ABSTRACT This study investigates the influence of the Korean Wave, particularly K-pop and K-dramas, on Indian popular culture, with a focus on its impact on the country's youth. As K-pop and K-dramas have surged in global popularity, their presence in India has become a cultural phenomenon, particularly among younger audiences. Through a combination of content analysisand social media metrics, this research examines how these Korean entertainment forms are shaping trends in Indian popular culture, including fashion, language, and media consumption. The findings reveal that K-pop and K-dramas are not just entertainment but are also instrumental in introducing new cultural elements into the Indian mainstream, influencing everything from youth fashion to social attitudes. The study highlights how digital platforms have facilitated this cultural exchange, creating a strong engagement between Indian fans and Korean content. Ultimately, the research suggests that the K-Wave is playing a pivotal role in diversifying and globalizing Indian popular culture, with a blend of Eastern and Western influences that instantly connects with India's youth.
