Impact of Smart Lighting System on productivity of workers in a Coworking space

ABSTRACT Coworking spaces have developed into vital gathering places for professionals, startups, and independent contractors looking for flexibility and teamwork. Lighting stands out as a crucial but frequently disregarded component among the several elements that influence productivity in these settings. With a particular focus on India, this study investigates how smart lighting technologies affect employee productivity in coworking spaces. In contrast to traditional lighting, smart lighting creates a more comfortable and customised work environment by adjusting to user preferences, blending in with natural light, and customising illumination for particular tasks. The study illustrates how smart lighting improves visual, physical, and mental comfort through case studies carried out in coworking spaces in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Features include motion sensors, colour temperatures, and brightness adjustments enhance focus, lessen eye strain, and provide more interesting work environments. 89.7% of participants confirmed that smart lighting had a favourable effect on job output, indicating a high association between the two. The increasing need for user-centred and energy-efficient smart lighting solutions in coworking spaces is highlighted by this study. Smart lighting produces an ideal setting that supports the changing needs of modern workers by striking a balance between sustainability and adaptability, thereby promoting a creative and productive atmosphere.
