ABSTRACT This project presents an innovative automated object sorting system aimed at improving industrial productivity through the use of a conveyor belt setup. Objects are placed on the moving belt and proceed toward a precisely located sensor near the endpoint. This sensor identifies various attributes of the objects—such as their material, size, or shape—and transmits this information as input signals to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Serving as the central processing unit, the PLC executes a predefined sorting program to determine the correct action for each item. Based on the programmed logic, it controls the conveyor and robotic arm motors to direct objects appropriately. When an object matches the set parameters, the robotic arm accurately picks it up and deposits it in the corresponding sorting section. Items that do not fulfill the required criteria are diverted to a rejection zone, ensuring an efficient and accurate sorting routine. The integration of a conveyor belt, sensitive detection sensors, a dependable PLC, and a responsive robotic arm contributes to the system’s high efficiency and reliability. Additionally, the modular structure allows the system to manage a wide variety of objects, making it highly flexible and adaptable to shifting industrial needs.
