ABSTRACT The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a significant reorientation of Indian education towards holistic, multidisciplinary, value-based and culturally rooted learning. An important dimension of this reform is the recognition and integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), including philosophical, scientific, linguistic, artistic, ecological and ethical traditions. This study examines the educational significance of Indian philosophy and knowledge traditions within the framework of NEP 2020. A qualitative document-analysis approach was adopted, using NEP 2020, UGC guidelines on incorporating Indian Knowledge in higher education curricula, faculty-training guidelines, the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023, and relevant academic literature as major sources. The findings indicate three major dimensions: curricular integration, pedagogical transformation, and development of ethical-cultural consciousness. The study also identifies implementation challenges related to teacher preparedness, resource availability, epistemological balance, language, standardisation and evidence-based academic engagement. The paper argues that meaningful integration requires dialogue between traditional knowledge and contemporary disciplines rather than uncritical reproduction of tradition.
