International out-migration from Cauvery Delta Zone Tamil nadu, India:the magnitude, process and consequences

ABSTRACT
This paper discusses how the migration a demographic phenomenon has a strong relationship with economic development. Despite the relevance of non-economic factors most of the studies indicate that migration is primarily motivated by economic factors, especially labor migration. Lesser storage of water in delta region consequent on insufficient rainfall in the catchment area does not allow the farmers to Cauvery Delta Zone. The seasonal and disguised nature of employment is acting disincentive for labour force to continue to stay of the staying areas there has been an increase in unskilled and semi-skilled labour migration from many states of India. Historically Tamil nadu has been one of the leading states in migration from of India. It is believed that Tamil nadu migrated abroad to work as traders, businessmen, shopkeepers, hoteliers, professionals etc. The process of migration comprising of formal (recruitment agency) and informal channels(family, kin, friends, religious groups and NGOs) of migration, costs and financing of migration, the contact, visits and remittances sent by the migrants to their native households would be helpful in understanding the causes and consequences of migration from Tamil nadu.
