Intersecting Marginalities: Exploring Sustainable Development Goals through Ants among Elephants by Sujatha Gidla
Author Name : Ms. Aruvi M G, Dr. N Bhuvana
ABSTRACT The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a radical agenda that can be imaginatively mapped through literature, particularly in social metamorphosis. Literature is both a reflection and driver of change, reflecting the richness of human experience as well as social problems. Through works on poverty, inequality, ecological breakdown, and discrimination by gender, literature becomes more intimately connected with the SDGs. This paper "Intersecting Marginalities: Exploring Sustainable Development Goals Through Ants Among Elephants by Sujatha Gidla," examines how the memoir portrays the struggles of India’s Dalit community and systemic discrimination within the caste system. By contextualizing these within the SDGs framework, the prime focus is set on poverty, education, and gender inequality. It is structured in such a manner that it initially introduces Ants Among Elephants, emphasizing Gidla’s background, the memoir’s context, and relevant SDGs. The broader themes of the memoir are also connected with relevant SDGs. In conclusion, the relevance of Gidla’s work for sustainable development is underscored.
