ABSTRACT Remote work has exploded thanks to the global pandemic, making essential remote work tools and technologies critical to productivity, and well-being in home-based work. IoT, or the Internet of Things (you know the one, it brings together all your smart devices), can help us unlock enormous potential in these remote work environments. This review paper investigates the impact of IoT for productive work from home by exploring several of technologies, devices and applications which can improve remote work experience. The article describes several key IoT solutions such as smart home office equipment designed to facilitate ergonomic practices and reduce distractions, health focused wearables that enhance alertness and concentration, along with systems integrated for seamless resource optimization. It also discusses the impact of IoT on its own as well as how it works with other technologically emerging sectors like Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and cloud computing to improve remote work, making it easier than before.
